Yeosu Dangerous - Out Now

Well everybody's favourite edgy alternative indie band, Electric Fan Death (EFD) have finally pumped out their debut EP. Titled Yeosu Dangerous; Yeosu the city in Korea where they wrote a majority of the tracks and the whole title is a play on 'you're so dangerous' because Korea is far from dangerous. Released on the 10th September 2009 to a fleet of good reviews and some airplay.

A Big Update For You All

Well where to start. Firstly, Electric Fan Death have been gaining a fair bit of acclaim. Their track Books On Buildings featured on our first Podcast (AMStunes Alternative Podcast) and they DJed it, rambling on about Korean life, music and other banter. They have been played on the Glasgow PodcART Podcast and got artist of the week (13th June 2009) as well as an amazing review by Halina Rafai. They have put up 3 fully mastered tracks (Land Mine, Wayguk & What We Are Not) on their Myspace and they are sounding mint. Mastered by Robin Sutherland of Stapleton fame the tracks sound louder and smoother than ever before.

Their début 7 track EP 'Yeosu Dangerous' is set to be released in July 2009 and the cover art is looking really good. Drawn by graphic novelist Nastasya Clark (aka burnbunnyburn) the image of the morning after the night before, depicting 'Fan Death'. The image isn't fully finished yet but an early version can be viewed at DeviantART. EFD's first gig is set for 4th July 2009 and if it's anything like what we've heard it should be amazing. John S Wilson's début album 'Liquid Acrobat' has had a few good reviews. His track 'Stringed Wings' Featured in our first Podcast (AMStunes Alternative Podcast) and he's recieved loads of good feedback. The full album can be listened to at our radio site.

We have a new artist who is part of the AMStunes Collective namely: 'Tear Down The Lies!'. His tunes are dancey, ambient, electro and sample driven film/soundscapes. They are really different and deserve a listen by anyone willing to open their mind to something different. His track 'Exchanges' featured on the first AMStunes Alternative Podcast. Electric Fan Death Have Some New Tracks Up on Myspace

As the title says, Electric Fan Death now have 4 tracks (Land Mine, Faceless, What We Are Not and Wayguk) up on Myspace, Last FM and AMStunes Radio. The tracks will feature on their debut EP 'Yeosu Dangerous'. If you are into alternative indie or just good music you should definately check them out. Liquid Acrobat Gets Great Review at Squidoo.com

"John S Wilson is an electronica artist whose debut album 'Liquid Acrobat' has been released online by his small indie label AMStunes. Described as 'alternative elctronica from an alternative mind', the statement is so true. Gone are the crazy sounds that are often associated with this genre, gone are the erellavant break-ups which make certain elctronica artists disjointed and inaccessible to many people. This album is a smooth ride and slots neatly into the genre doing something that it seems elctronica artists are afraid to do, make it sound simple even though it so obviously isn't.

The first track 'Heights' kicks in with a distorted drifty lead line and then what sounds like a sampled drum kit bangs in with a driving beat and the song just builds. Its all so well crafted and thought out, some songs progressive, some songs ambient the whole album flows perfectly making it easy to just put the album on your Ipod go out and completely forget what you went out for. In fact you won't care you'll just walk and listen from start to finish, the music is that good.

Influences can definitely be heard; the old master 'Aphex', 'Boards of Canada', 'Four Tet' blah, blah, blah, and at times other genres come into the mix, trance, dub and even garage all mingle. Although the influences can be noticed, this album is so obviously its own entity. It fits nicely in your playlist amongst all the other electronica artists and that is truly amazing for a debut album of an artist not of high recognition in the industry. This album is a simple epic emotional collection of tracks that should not be missed; it shows that simplicity can be complexity.

'Liquid Acrobat' is a fitting title for John S Wilson's creation, whether it's because the whole album flows flawlessly from start to end or perhaps its a reference to the drug and dance culture this album so obviously stems from. I personally think this album deserves the 9 I have given it but to anyone who prefers the more traditional sound-scape, more sample based electronica take the score down by 1 or possibly 2. Anyone out their who is looking to extend their electronica collection and wants something very different get over to AMStunes now and check this out, a truly masterful piece of music.

Electric Fan Death - The Meaning Behind The Name

We just realised that most people out there probably don't know what 'Electric Fan Death' actually means. Maybe you're thinking it's where an electric fan gives up and dies or maybe you reckon it's a bizarre execution method for fans of competing music makers involving a few thousand volts of 'lecky. Well in both cases you'd be wrong.

Electric fan death is actually a South Korean belief that if you leave an electric fan on in a room where you sleep it may take away all the air or cause hypothermia and kill you. Here's a wiki page to further explain. Enjoy.

Its Been A While

Its been a while since anything was written on here but hey we're going to post a lot more in the future. So whats happened over the past few years. First off 'Explicit Fuzz' completely sold out, no more were released to keep the album limited and now it is slowly drifting into obscurity.

Next Ste Wilson released his album 'Silicon based Carbon' online. The CD release may follow in the future but right now you can listen to all the tracks for free on the new AMStunes radio or at Last.fm.

Silicon based Carbon is an alternative stoner grunge sounding beast created completely by Ste Wilson. Each track is a burst of layered guitars, vocals and drums which combine to create an atmosphere dissimilar to most music. It has an experimental feel due to Ste’s explicit desire to keep the album raw, real and honest and his belief that the recording process is just as much a part of making music as writing and playing it. Subjects focus on life in the modern world, lacking in clichés and brutal in aural appearance, not for the kids apparently.


Next John S Wilson released his debut album in early 2009 titled 'Liquid Acrobat'. Again it was an online release and all the tracks can be listened to for free on AMStunes radio or at Last.fm.

2006 Gigs have gone well

Ste has played at loads of venues in 2006 including a chirty gig for Oxfam in the Oxjam music festival 2006 showing off his original style of diverse acoustic grunge and leaving crowds with their mouths open wanting more. He's shocked people with his explicitly honest lyrics and got people moving with his banging, chugging guitar.

Ste is an all in one music production facility, if you climb into his belly button you'll turn into a drum kit, each arm has the power of five guitars which he layers using his overclocked computer brain to create a sound he calls diverse grunge rock. After consuming a head full of DIY Cubase Ste projectile vomited a collage of 120mm discs across the studio. Upon cleaning the mess Ste picked the recording now known as Explicit Fuzz out of array of CDs and his debut album was born. A chugging, screaming lump of circular polymer which when inserted into the correct device fills the room with raw DIY perfection.

After Explicit Fuzz the only road left on Ste's map was Silicon Based Carbon. Deemed impossible to create by scientists and boffins alike, still Ste laughs in their face as he continues to increase his Front Side Bus and steer ever closer to creating the impossible, SILICON BASED CARBON.

John uses new VST plugin technology to wire rhythmical beats to his ears and fire them through sonic beams into his megatron sequencer. The power of the music created using this method is unparalleled and can crumble buildings if the correct protection is not applied.

His current Plugin creates synthetic sounds which when played to a particular genus of flora when the moon is in the sun and the iambic pendulum swings full circle can give rise to Hydroponics. He now awaits the coming of the musical life giver and his first album: HYDROPONICS.
